PATIENT PREPARATIONS	:	Samples should not be taken from patients receiving therapy with high biotin doses (i.e. > 5 mg/day) until at least 8 hours following the last biotin administration.
INTENDED USE	:	• The determination of cortisol is used for the recognition and treatment of functional disorders of the adrenal gland. • A cortisol test may be used to help diagnose Cushing syndrome, a condition associated with excess cortisol, or to help diagnose adrenal insufficiency or Addison disease, conditions associated with deficient cortisol.
